Teacher Sherine used a PowerPoint presentation to introduce and explain the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012 (POSCO ACT) to the teachers at Ladyhill English Higher Primary. She had participated in the online seminar led by Superior General Sister Maria Nirmalini A.C. of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation.
The roles and responsibilities of school authorities in preventing child sexual abuse as set forth by the Posco Act were discussed because children spend as much time in school as they do at home. These roles and responsibilities which are implemented include *drafting a child protection policy*, *taking proactive measures to prevent child sexual abuse, and *organising awareness sessions for students.
