The presentation on Service Learning delivered by Dr. Flossy C. R. D'souza Prof. at St. Anns College of Education( Autonomous) at the LadyHill Victoria School Hall on 30th May 2023 aimed to provide teachers at the Ladyhill Campus with insights into the concept of service learning and its potential benefits for both students and the community.

       The session opened with a prayer song for God's presence, followed by greetings to the resource person and officials from the Ladyhill Institutions.

         Dr. Dsouza began the session by providing a clear definition of " Service Learning" which involves students actively engaging in projects that address real community needs, thereby fostering civic responsibility and personal growth.

       Dr. Dsouza highlighted several benefits of service learning for students such as enhanced academic learning where students can apply classroom knowledge to real-life situations, reinforcing their understanding of concepts, students developing important life skills such as leadership, empathy, and teamwork, promoting a sense of responsibility and active participation in the community.

       Dr. Dsouza shared strategies for implementing service learning effectively. These strategies included:Collaboration with community organisations, Integration with curriculum, Reflection and assessment.

         To illustrate the practical application of service learning, Dr. Dsouza presented case studies and examples from other educational institutions. These examples showcased successful projects and highlighted best practices that can be replicated within the Ladyhill Campus.

       Dr. Flossy Dsouza's presentation on service learning provided valuable insights and practical guidance for the teachers of the Ladyhill Campus. The session emphasised the importance of integrating community service with academic learning to foster student development and community engagement.
